Hoi An Day Tour

Overview of Hoi An Day Tour

Just 30 kilometers south of Da Nang sits a town that time forgot, and our Hoi An day tour brings you straight into the middle of it.

This is the trip we recommend to every first-time visitor staying in Da Nang who wants more than just beaches.

In one well-paced day, you will paddle a round bamboo basket boat through a war-era coconut forest, walk under 400-year-old yellow walls in a UNESCO World Heritage town, and taste dishes you cannot find anywhere else in Vietnam.

Our Hoi An day tour from Danang is built for travelers from Australia, the UK, the US, and Europe, etc.

You travel by private air-conditioned car with a local English-speaking guide who grew up in central Vietnam.

We skip the souvenir-shop detours and the rushed photo stops.

Instead, you get real conversations with locals and old-house caretakers who actually live the stories you came here for.

This Hoi An tour from Danang suits couples, families with kids and solo travelers.

By sunset, you will understand why Hoi An keeps ranking on every “best in Asia” list year after year.

Hoi An ancient town tour 1 day itinerary

09:00: Morning pickup and drive to Hoi An

Your tour guide and driver will meet you in your hotel lobby with a name board.

This door-to-door service covers all coastal resorts along Vo Nguyen Giap Street as well as city center hotels in the Hai Chau District.

After boarding the air-conditioned car, you will enjoy a scenic 45-minute drive south.

The route passes local rice paddies, traditional ceramic workshops, and the Marble Mountains.

09:30: Cam Thanh Coconut Village

You will arrive at the Bay Mau Coconut Forest, a 100-hectare wetland maze located five kilometers southeast of the old town.

Your guide will introduce you to the local boatmen who use traditional round bamboo basket boats to navigate the narrow water alleys.

During the one-hour ride, you can watch fishermen cast nets and see a unique 360-degree basket boat dance performance on the water.

The local staff provides waterproof phone pouches and recommends wearing shorts because water might splash into the boat.

11:00: Traditional Lunch

The driver will take you to a family-run garden restaurant located just outside the historic center.

You will eat a set menu of Central Vietnamese specialties prepared by a local restaurant.

Dietary adjustments for vegetarians, gluten-free travelers, or children are available upon request at the time of booking.

12:30: Arrival at Hoi An Ancient Town

Your vehicle will drop you off at the edge of the pedestrian zone.

Because motorized vehicles are banned inside the UNESCO World Heritage site, you will complete this portion of the Hoi An day trip on foot.

Your guide will lead you through the narrow, yellow-walled streets while explaining how Japanese, Chinese, and European merchants shaped the port town between the 15th and 19th centuries.

13:00: Japanese Covered Bridge

You will visit the Japanese Covered Bridge, the iconic 17th-century bridge built by Japanese traders.

Your guide will point out the carved monkey and dog statues at the entrances, which signify the lunar years of construction.

Afterward, you will stop at Banh Mi Phuong on Phan Chau Trinh Street to try the famous Vietnamese baguette sandwich.

15:45: Free Time for Exploring and Tailoring

You have 30 to 45 minutes to explore Tran Phu and Bach Dang streets independently.

You can buy hand-stitched silk lanterns on Le Loi Street or order custom clothing at famous shops like Yaly Couture or Bebe Tailor, which offer 24-hour express service.

Alternatively, you can relax with an egg coffee at a local cafe.

17:30: Evening Lantern Experience & Return

You will watch the historic quarter switch off its electric lights to illuminate thousands of colorful silk lanterns.

You can hire a small wooden boat for approximately 50,000 VND to release a paper candle onto the Hoai River (at your expense).
