Best time to visit

Weather and Climate

Binh Ba Island, located in the Khanh Hoa Province, Nha Trang is in the same province, experiences a tropical climate. The weather here can generally be divided into two main seasons:

  • Dry Season (January to August): The ideal time to visit Binh Ba Island is this season. The average temperature is between 23°C and 31°C, and the weather is sunny and warm. Additionally, the sea conditions are perfect for water sports like swimming and snorkeling.
  • Rainy Season (September to December): During these months, the island gets more rain. Heavy and frequent rain can make the sea rough, which isn’t good for activities that take place on the water.

When Not to Visit

Avoid the rainy season, especially between October and December. The sea may be too dangerous for boat rides, travel plans may be disrupted, and activities may be limited due to the heavy rains.

Enjoy cuisine at Binh Ba

The best part of visiting Binh Ba Island is the fresh seafood that comes from the area. People often call the island “Lobster Island” because it is famous for its delicious fresh and huge lobsters, which can be steamed, grilled, or served in rich noodle soups.

Sea urchin is another tasty dish to try. It can be eaten raw or with lemon and herbs for a unique taste of the ocean.

Grilled seafood is very common here. Fish and squid are marinated in a mixture of local spices such as lemongrass and garlic, and then grilled to bring out their natural flavors. Choose a seafood hotpot if you want to eat with other people. It has shrimp, clams, and fish in a tasty broth.

Additionally, you should also try local snails cooked in different ways, like boiled, grilled, or stir-fried with coconut milk. Serve these seafood dishes with fried rice or noodles, which are great for soaking up the rich flavors.

Fresh coconut water or locally brewed beers go well with these meals, making the island’s food even more appealing.

Getting around in Binh Ba island

Transport to the island is typically via boat from Ba Ngoi port or Da Bac port in Cam Ranh. On the island, transportation options are limited; however, walking is a viable option given the island’s size or motorbikes are available for rent.

Travel Tips

When traveling for Binh Ba, light and breathable clothing are recommended due to the humid climate. Essentials include sun protection such as a hat, sunglasses, and sunscreen.

It’s also advisable to carry bottled water to stay hydrated and some basic first aid supplies. Additionally, you should respect local customs, particularly when visiting religious sites, by dressing modestly.

By visiting during the dry season, indulging in the local cuisine, and preparing appropriately for the tropical environment, your trip to Binh Ba Island is sure to be memorable, filled with beautiful landscapes and rich cultural experiences.

While it may seem too early to plan a holiday, it's always a good idea to research travel tour prices ahead of time and book as soon as a suitable offer has been identified. "When it comes to the winter holidays from October to February in the next year—the priciest time of the year—your best bet is to book the tour service before this period," according to my own experience. "Look to book between one to two months ahead for domestic travel and two to 6 months ahead for international travel."

Travel insurance might provide financial protection if you need to cancel an expensive, nonrefundable vacation for an accepted cause.

Travel insurance can also cover health care costs if you experience a medical emergency while overseas. My advice is to get travel insurance.
